from your pale blue eyes
down your cheeks, down
to your lips
where the sorrowful river leads to
and the banal taste
of the salty sea begins and ends,
there’s a place
where your sadness has learned to hide itself,

in a smile
like two red petals
drowning in the dewdrops of a crying morning

petal to petal,
if only my lips could touch yours
i could take
all the lonely droplets
away
